Wave Frenzy Tournament

Wave Frenzy Tournament a Success

The Wave Frenzy Tournament was a Success.  Some great news as well is that we now have our banner to hang in our arena as the Intermediate team took home the championship in their division.

Special thanks to all of our volunteers, without your help we couldn't host a successful event.  The funds generated will help keep the Port Colborne Girls Hockey program the cheapest in the Province.

I watched a lot of great hockey over the weekend, one moment though hit me right in the feels.  The Bantam final, which was a real barn burner ended with a win for the Sudbury Phoenix over Lakeshore Lightning.  The Lakeshore goalie put on an astonishing performance causing the game to go into double overtime.  Well at the end of this game, the Sudbury goalie, instead of celebrating with her team skated by the celebration and straight to the Lakshore goalie to commend her on her performance.  And when the silver medal was handed over to the goalie the entire Sudbury team erupted in applause.  My hats off to the Sudbury goalie, and the rest of the team for their exemplary sportsmanship.

So 41 games with 23 teams are now in the books.  And remember everyone just 359 days until Wave Frenzy 2020!  Good luck to all the girls in the playoffs.
